Everest Insurance®, a Division of Everest Group, Ltd., is seeking a Senior Accountant to assist its Financial/Management Reporting function. This position can be based in our Warren, New Jersey or Philadelphia Office and will report to the AVP - Insurance Accounting and Analysis.
The Everest insurance segment is a Specialty Diversified insurance company continuing its rapid growth and transformation with infrastructure, product enhancement and human capital investments.
This position will be part of the Insurance Reporting team and have exposure to senior leadership positions. The team is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the quarterly close process and controls for the Insurance segment. The position will have an opportunity to build on a firm foundation of processes, enhance reconciliations, strengthen controls, expand analytics, and add efficiency and automation to the closing process. Requires some knowledge of insurance systems and processes, and technical finance and accounting expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the quarterly close process including:
- Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are performed timely
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries, including ALAE, ULAE, Surcharges, and Commissions, to ensure business transactions are properly recorded
- Collaborating with team to analyze and distribute financial results for management reporting
- Liaise with internal statutory reporting teams on reconciliations and year-end schedules
- Maintain a strong system of internal controls and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Develop and demonstrate solid command of the operational and financial context of the business
- Perform other accounting and financial tasks as needed
- Assist with implementation of accounting system changes to ensure efficient and accurate processing of financial data
Requirements:Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the property and casualty insurance industry
- CPA credential or candidate preferred

Skills:
- Knowledge of the insurance income statement and balance sheet
- Experience in quarterly and annual financial close process and controls
- Strong project management skills - extraordinarily well-organized
- Strong analytical and technical communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong technology skills, demonstrated ability to work with data, implementing automation tools; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting
