Position Summary
APAC-Kansas is currently searching for an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing the company's accounting and finance operations. This position will be hands-on in a decentralized, diversified structure allowing candidates to work in a small company environment while having exposure and career opportunities of a large enterprise. This position will have two direct reports and have oversight over a total of four employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• The candidate will work with the Controller and Area Controllers as well as senior staff to ensure timeliness and accuracy of month-end closing and financial reporting
• Support the company's CapEx process including project justifications, manage CapEx spend oversight and reporting, and oversee the fixed asset system
• Collaborate across Accounting, Operations and other departments to develop timely financial analysis, reports, KPI's and trend data to assist in better understanding business performance
• Lead the standard cost reviews and subsequent updates to company systems
• Drive improvement in financial processes and quality of financial data through the use of automation, improving system efficiencies and elimination of non-value added work
• Work with Controller in preparation of both internal and external audits
• Manage incoming materials accounting function ensuring proper receipt of raw materials into inventory systems and posting of related invoices to A/P
• Support various ongoing accounting and reporting initiatives including ERP and bolt-on system implementations, internal controls and accounting standards updates
Qualifications/Education
• Bachelor's degree from accredited university in accounting or related field
• Master's degree or CPA license preferred
• Highly personable and effective communicator
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to independently prioritize multiple tasks and bring projects to completion
