Description
Assistant Instructional Professor for Chicago, IL location. Teach 7 courses per year in French and Haitian Kreyol language (of which a minimum of two will be in Haitian Kreyol). Develop instructional materials in support of courses. Engage in community outreach and publicity efforts to promote interest in the Kreyol language and Haitian culture on campus. Contribute to any intercampus partnerships related to Kreyol (e.g., CourseShare). Organize and participate in cultural and linguistic events on campus related to Kreyol and French. Advise RSOs related to Haitian studies, including the French Club. Advise students regarding any Study Abroad opportunities in the area of Haitian studies. Offer independent studies in Kreyol and/or French and Francophone topics as directed.
Qualifications
Master's degree in French or a related field plus one year of experience in teaching French at post-secondary level required. Required: ACTFL Superior-level proficiency (or equivalent) in French and Kreyol, and Advanced-level (or equivalent) proficiency in English is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their language proficiency via certification or in the interview process. Experience must include: French and Kreyol language instruction; development of instructional materials.
