The Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in the Fall 2025 semester. We seek candidates with research interests in applied macroeconomics. Applicants must demonstrate strong quantitative skills and a research agenda with direct policy application. Candidates working in the intersection of macroeconomics and another field (international, growth, etc.) are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate (Master's level) courses in macroeconomics, international economics, and quantitative methods. Finally, we welcome applications from both fresh and seasoned candidates.

Department Overview

Boise State's Economics Department currently offers four undergraduate Majors (BBA, BA, BA Quantitative Emphasis, BEA) and Minor programs of study. We also offer two Masters degrees (M.S., and M.Ec.) and a Graduate Certificate in Econometrics. Our department consists of a diverse faculty with high quality research in a broad range of fields and frequently engages with research and policy issues at the local, regional and national levels. Our department values research and we provide summer research support and a 2-2 teaching load for the first two years, with continuance of the teaching load subject to quality research output.

The Boise State University College of Business and Economics is one of 3% of business schools globally accredited by AACSB in both business and accounting. The college's academic units are housed in the Micron Business and Economics Building, a world-class facility with state-of-the-art classrooms and offices, a Bloomberg-equipped trading room, faculty collaboration spaces, the Imagination Lab, a student commons, and a cafe. The building is a short distance from the beautiful Boise River. It is both geothermal and solar-assisted. This environment stimulates collaboration and creativity.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Earned doctorate in Economics awarded by a university accredited by AACSB/EQUIS/AMBA or an equivalent governmental accreditation body. The successful candidate will have a proven record of high-quality scholarly publications and teaching excellence sufficient to be hired at the level of associate professor or professor. In addition to research, responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. A proven ability to teach is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Economics completed by August 15, 2025
  • Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Ability and willingness to teach both undergraduate and graduate (Master's level) courses in macroeconomics, international economics, and quantitative methods
  • Publication record demonstrating expertise and a clear research agenda within their area of specialty
