The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES) at the GSB seeks an Associate Director to lead the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurial Intiative's (SLEI) Research efforts. The Associate Director will work with faculty to conduct insightful new research about the state of Latino entrepreneurship in the United States, communicate these results to business, government, and nonprofit leaders, and lead the collaboration between Stanford GSB and the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) in curating this research effort.

In this staff role, you will have the opportunity to partner with GSB faculty to develop insights about the unique challenges and opportunities facing the rapidly growing U.S. Latino business sector. You will interact with government and corporate policy makers, Latino entrepreneurs, and Stanford students and faculty. You will be part of a caring and engaged team supporting entrepreneurial education and research at the GSB.This is a hybrid position with an average of 2-3 days a week on-site at the Stanford campus in Palo Alto, CA.
Your primary responsibilities* include:

    Leading the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurial Initiative's research strategy, developing and managing the program's budget, and ensuring our annual goals are met.Leading the design and implementation of the annual State of Latino Entrepreneurship research, in partnership with faculty and the LBAN team. Designing and developing the survey, leading the analysis of survey results, and writing insightful report(s) outlining findings. This survey of 10,000+ business owners provides annual results viewed by thousands of business owners, policy makers, and academics. Being a strong thought leader for the research. Propose new areas to research, based on input from multiple stakeholders, to increase impact in leveling the playing field and enhancing growth of Latino and minority-owned U.S. businesses.Collaborating with Stanford GSB and LBAN's public relations teams to drive coverage of SLEI research findings to maximize impact.Being an extremely effective spokesperson for the research with policymakers, academics, business leaders, the public, and governmental agencies to increase awareness of the findings. Encouraging use of the results in creating policy and other actions to support the growth of Latino and other minority-owned firms.Fostering relationships with leaders in government, the nonprofit sector, the business community, and academia to share study results and enhance the research approach.Developing deep knowledge of the Latino entrepreneurial and business ecosystem.Managing the collaboration between Stanford and the Latino Business Action Network in creating a vision and action plan for maximizing research impact.\Providing a vision and overseeing the creation of the annual State of Latino Entrepreneurship Summit, attended by 900+ people.Design, develop, and conduct other research projects about Latino business issues as appropriate.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
    Bachelor's degree and three years relevant experience or a combination of relevant education and experience.Demonstrated experience creating, conducting, analyzing, and reporting results of social science research, ideally as the project leader proposing and guiding research direction. Very strong analytic skills using tools such as R, STATA or Python to analyze social science research data.Strong survey design and implementation skills; strong skills in creating surveys using Qualtrics or similar platform, including more advanced survey creation.Knowledge of primary data collection methods (polls, focus groups, interviews, surveys, etc.) and secondary data (primarily Census business data sets).Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Demonstrated experience in project management, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting to bring projects in on time at high quality.Extremely strong English writing and verbal communication skills to interact with students, faculty, and senior industry leaders.
In addition, preferred requirements include:
    Advanced degree (PhD or Masters) in a relevant social science; PhD preferred.Fluency in speaking and writing in Spanish is a plus.Working knowledge of businesses, how financial results are tracked, how growth is funded, and an ability to knowledgeably interact with business owners is ideal.Familiarity with existing datasets about U.S. businesses (e.g. the ABS dataset) is ideal.Familiarity with policies designed to support small and minority owned businesses.
The expected pay range for this position is $95,000 to $139,000 per year. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
