Academic and research integrity and ethical behavior are expected of all faculty in the College of Nursing. The College of Nursing invites applications for the Associate/Full Professor position in the Tenure System faculty appointment system. Position responsibilities include obtaining and maintaining an established program of funded extramural and interdisciplinary research that prioritizes inclusive excellence; being a published nursing scholar; teaching across undergraduate and graduate nursing education, including area(s) of expertise that contribute to outreach and community service. The position also requires a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for our student body, faculty and staff. The successful candidate will also provide mentorship across nursing programs and actively participate in college and university committees, upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical behavior.

Applicant's research should enhance or complement current College of Nursing concentrations in health promotion and illness prevention, symptom science and management, or health services research, all within the context of addressing health equity and social determinants of health. The appointment of academic rank and salary are dependent on evidence of research, teaching, and scholarship achievements. This is an academic year faculty position.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a program of research in one of the concentration areas of the CON listed above. Implementing research strategies that include a range of methodologies and analytic methods.
  • Working with senior research leadership within the college, university, and community to identify areas of research needs and supporting the development of research grants to meet these needs.
  • In collaboration with our Associate Dean for Research and the PhD Program, assisting early career scientists to build and strengthen the focus of their research as it aligns with our nation's current research needs and funding trends
  • Actively participating in recruitment initiatives aimed at diversifying junior, mid-career, and senior researchers across various disciplines, with a focus on promoting inclusion and representation from historically underrepresented groups.
  • Participating in the service to the college and university (i.e., academic governance process)
  • Participating in community outreach and networking at local, regional, state, national and international levels
  • Broad dissemination of research findings to communities of interest both domestic and international.

College of Nursing Philosophical Statement: Inclusive excellence and Health and Community Engagement are central to our mission, as exemplified through our work. We seek to understand and appreciate people and cultures different from our own. We believe in advocacy to support and empower individuals and populations through evidence-based, honest, and respectful communication, appreciating others and being inclusive of all the experiences they bring. Our College of Nursing's team of faculty and staff demonstrate servant leadership, fostering community, inclusion, and belonging. These principles guide our ability to:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to long-term, sustained actions that increase inclusive practices in health equity across the CON and in our research and education products.
  • Intentionally create an environment that encourages a sense of belonging, inclusive learning, work, and clinical service environments that enable everyone to reach their full potential.
  • Recognize that inclusion is a journey as we strive to move along the continuum of embracing experiences and resources that address anti-racist and anti-oppressive ideas while acknowledging the inward and outward systems that influence bias and cultural awareness.
  • Strive to champion inclusive practices that create an environment ripe for transformational change through engaging in or leading initiatives that change structural systems within nursing education that have historically inhibited, disenfranchised, marginalized, and unintentionally excluded underrepresented communities.
