SES Environmental Resources Solutions LLC (ERS) is growing! We are seeking an Aviation Environmental Practice Leader to manage projects and grow our civilian aviation practice for clients including government agencies, aviation authorities, and architecture-engineering firms.

The Aviation Environmental Practice Leader will bring their experience as an environmental specialist or consultant within the civilian aviation sector to our existing client base to nurture and grow these relationships, as well as develop new clients. The Aviation Environmental Practice Leader is a generalist and can advise clients on a variety of subjects including natural/cultural resources, water quality, air quality, environmental compliance, environmental permitting, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews, leveraging our team of environmental scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals to execute projects.

All candidates with at least 5 years' civilian aviation experience are encouraged to apply, including junior to mid-level project managers, subject matter experts, and experienced market leaders. The selected candidate will be classified as a Project Manager or Program Manager based on their qualifications.

The ideal candidate is proactive, fast-paced, assertive, adaptive, persuasive, motivating, and follows through until objectives have been achieved.

This position reports to the Jacksonville, Florida office, requires 25%-50% travel, with the potential for a hybrid schedule or remote position based elsewhere in Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and grows a portfolio of civil aviation clients and projects;
  • Participates in business development activities including attending conferences, preparing and giving capabilities briefings, and coordinating teaming meetings and agreements;
  • Participates in annual strategic planning and leads efforts associated with civil aviation market goals, including monitoring and reporting on progress;
  • Manages all aspects of civilian aviation projects from the proposal phase through closeout;
  • Conducts field surveys and thoroughly documents field activities through field notes and photographs;
  • Performs technical tasks, such as calculations, layouts, data analysis, and preparation of a reports;
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of project finances and accounting/ project manager tools;
  • Attends client meetings;
  • Schedules and manages resources for project work;
  • Mentors project team or others in project management and civil aviation market fundamentals;
  • Works both in a team environment and with minimal supervision; and
  • Displays a strong work ethic and professional demeanor.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Planning, Geology, Engineering, or related field;
  • Five years relevant professional experience; and
  • Maintains or is pursuing professional licensure or relevant technical certification (e.g., Project Management Professional [PMP], licensed Professional Geologist [PG], licensed Professional Engineer [PE], Associate or Certified Wildlife Biologist [AWB/CWB], Qualified Airport Wildlife Biologist [QAWB], Professional Wetland Scientist [PWS], Arborist)

This position requires the ability to maneuver around work sites, see, hear, and verbally communicate with co-workers and clients. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining the physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, crawling, walking, or standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent opportunity to move about and to work outside the office environment for extended periods involving exposure to the elements with weather that will include extreme heat, cold, wind, rain or other inclement weather, walking over rough and uneven surfaces, and routine lifting of 35 pounds or more. If required, individual must properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to; hard hats, safety-toed boots, eye protection, respiratory protection, and hearing protection. Job is performed in a combination of office work, work throughout occupied and unoccupied buildings, and outdoor site locations. The office setting includes exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Building assessments will be conducted throughout buildings including crawl spaces, attic spaces, and confined spaces. Outdoor settings include walking, driving, and carrying supplies throughout all seasons with exposure to heat and cold conditions, and potentially wildlife. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
