Applications are being accepted for the following immediate vacancies on the Part-Time Faculty staff of Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York. Hudson Valley Community College is seeking individuals to serve as Aviation Maintenance Instructors. HVCC is a Certificated Part 147 Aviation Mechanic Technician School (AMTS) at the Albany International Airport and is looking to build a pool of qualified applicants to fill multiple vacancies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and/or Powerplant ratings, or appropriate aviation specific subject matter expertise as determined by the ATI Director and Lead Instructor in accordance with 14 CFR Part 147.19(b), AND at least three years' experience exercising the privileges of the Airframe and/or Powerplant mechanic certificate ratings as indicated by 14 CFR Part 65.83 or related aviation subject matter expertise in accordance with 14 CFR Part 147.19(b). Knowledge of Airman Certification Standards (ACS) for A&P certificates is required.
Preferred Qualifications: BA/BS in Aviation science or related field preferred; or Associate’s Degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or other related technical service field. Prior aviation maintenance teaching or training experience; and experience with both commercial and general aviation fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. Related military experience will be considered in lieu of general aviation experience.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with reciprocating and turbine engines, rotorcraft and fixed-wing airframes is preferred. Experience with adult education, possessing a DME certificate, Experience with aircraft inspection authorization (IA) or military equivalent (TI), familiarity with Learning Management Systems (D2L), Microsoft Teams and Office is also preferred.
Details:
The Aviation Maintenance Instructors are located primarily at HVCC’s ATI at the Albany International Airport. The selected individuals will assist and advise in the development, maintenance, and instruction of the FAA accepted curriculum. Duties are focused on the instruction of AMTS students, including:
- Researching and ordering curriculum-based instructional aids, parts, and supplies;
- Writing aviation maintenance curriculum lessons, projects, tests, and worksheets;
- Building/updating/modifying aviation maintenance trainers to match curriculum;
- Providing quality instruction for face-to-face and online courses in Aviation Maintenance to include days, evenings, and weekends to a diverse student population in a manner consistent with the department’s standards, accreditation standards, and with the content in the approved course outline and plan of instruction;
- Evaluating student performance and completing assessments as required by the College and ABFSE accreditation;
- Participating in program accreditation process, department planning and program review;
- Collaborating on curriculum and program development including creating, revising, and updating course projects, assignments, and assessments;
- Maintaining all necessary student records in accordance with HVCC, SUNY, and FAA requirements;
- Providing professional counselling to students as appropriate to each students’ situation;
- Evaluating student performance;
- Participating in departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development, which is both encouraged and supported.
The hourly rate for the part-time Instructors is $50.00.
