GPIseeks a Bridge Engineer / Project Engineer familiar with the design of bridges for NJDOT, NJTA and other local agencies to join our team in Bridgewater, NJ. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Performing structural analysis and design for bridge and other transportation related structures.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
  • Keeping solid relationships with inter-departmental teams.
  • Maintaining schedules and budgets to ensure contractual obligations.
  • Checking calculations and/or directing the design procedures of others to ensure that calculations are performed in accordance with AASHTO design standards or other requirements.
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing and proposal development, contractual matters, design, and production meetings.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with staff from other technical disciplines and subconsultants.
  • Coordinate workload throughout the entire project development and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule.
  • Experience in managing and reviewing load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies is a plus.
  • Participate in Construction Engineering Services by reviewing Contractor Shop Drawings and responding to RFI's.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree a plus).
  • New Jersey State PE required. NY or CT PE is a plus.
  • 8 to 12 years of experience working in the bridge design profession.
  • Experience working in a team environment providing technical direction to a design team on highway bridge projects with NJDOT and other local agencies experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA design standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA MPT standards and requirements.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD design standards and specifications is a plus.
  • Experience with complex structural analysis software, such as CSiBridge is a plus.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Bridge rehabilitation design experience is a plus.
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic with a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
  • NHI #130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges is a plus.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
  • Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
