The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) at Tulane University seeks a Visiting Mid-Career Research Fellow for the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 academic semester. The Center supports empirical research in the fields of international relations, international political economy, comparative politics, political sociology, and policy studies. Latin American expertise and Spanish or Portuguese fluency are required. A fellow will be selected based on intellectual merit, experience, and the potential impact of their planned research for CIPR programs. The fellow will pursue research and contribute to the intellectual life of their disciplinary department, CIPR, and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies. They are expected to participate in weekly CIPR seminars and workshops, as well as lectures, conferences, and other events organized by the Center. The fellow will collaborate with resident faculty and students on projects of mutual interest in addition to developing their independent research agendas on related topics, as well as mentor junior colleagues at the Center when possible. The fellowship is for one semester with a stipend of $37,000 plus benefits. Fellows may also obtain funding from their own academic institutions, outside foundations or personal resources. Round-trip travel expenses of up to $3,000 are also supported. Foreign applicants will need to obtain separate health insurance coverage.
Qualifications:
Scholars are expected to hold a PhD. Recent PhD graduates are generally not appropriate candidates. Latin American expertise and Spanish or Portuguese fluency are required.
