POSITION SUMMARY

Perform inspections and tests on electrical equipment to determine compliance with applicable codes and standards. Manager large projects including the supervising and coordination of the Company compliance personnel, sub-contractors and clients' activities. Prepare job estimates, develop proposals and manage project costs. Position may be mentally demanding, requiring concentration in multiple projects and activities simultaneously while routinely coordinating the activities of sub-contractors. The Senior Compliance Engineer position requires little or no direct supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform very complex analysis and evaluative tasks necessary to complete equipment-labeling projects consistent with recognized industry and international standards, local jurisdiction requirements and Company procedures. Routinely perform medium and high voltage equipment evaluations.
  • Perform testing required for conformity assessment projects and medium and high voltage evaluation projects.
  • Perform power system measurements and analysis utilizing various types of recording instruments.
  • Perform complex field tests of electrical equipment and components.
  • Perform job walks, develop man-hour estimates and pricing and promote sales of large labeling and equipment evaluation projects.
  • Perform a wide range of conformity assessment work.
  • Perform CE Marking, SEMI-S2 and NRTL projects and to develop on-going customer relationships.
  • Review test plans for NRTL projects and other work relating to compliance projects performed by others.
  • Participate in standards development including NFPA, SEMI and international standards as appropriate.
  • May perform all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems.
  • Negotiate major contracts and promote sales of other Company services as appropriate.
  • Mentor other Compliance Engineer positions.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes and standards used in apparatus testing with a strong theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
  • Requires special skills in a majority of the following: - Field evaluations using ANSI, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, U.L. and other standards - - power quality surveys - testing and start-up of low and medium voltage equipment - engineering studies such as short circuit, coordination and arc flash analysis.
  • Strong background and experience in inspections and testing of all types of low and medium voltage equipment.
  • A high degree of communication, supervisory, organizational and management skills are required.
  • Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients, peers and management. Strong presentation skills.
  • Professional society membership (IAEI, IEEE, as required) and meeting attendance expected.
  • Good judgments, dependable, supervise large-scale projects with technical expertise and good business management skills.
  • Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer-controlled test equipment.
  • Technical presentations and articles may be required.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out-of-town and international travel of up to several weeks.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 100-pound test sets.
  • Valid Driver's License.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME and six years' experience; OR
  • Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and nine years minimum same or similar work experience; OR
  • High school education or equivalent and ten years minimum same or similar work experience.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the State of Washington locality is between $86,520 to $108,150 per year (based on a 40-hour work week)]-salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO (Flexible or up to accrued x number of days a year), holiday pay (9 days), and 401k.
