Position: The Department of Education Policy, Organization & Leadership is seeking a full-time, on campus Teaching Assistant Professor. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-track position with an additional summer month appointment, as needed.
Position Description: The Education Policy, Leadership & Organization possesses an outstanding reputation in the area of education policy, interdisciplinary research, and social justice. We seek a colleague who will join our department and College of Education to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the field study placement for our new Sustainability Education online certificate programs. Candidates will also teach Environmental and Sustainability Education related courses.
Required Qualifications:
• An earned doctoral degree in education is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in Sustainability/Environmental Education, Education Policy, Educational Foundations, Global Studies, or a related field.
• Two years of teaching experience in public schools or comparable non-formal setting
• Significant experience in community and public engagement.
• Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations specifically including Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and Global South communities; and undergraduate educator preparation.
• Prior university teaching and service experience.
Responsibilities:
• Administrative duties such as serving as the assessment lead of the Sustainability Education program.
• Coordinating student placement in global, national, and online settings.
• Collaboration with the College of Education's Office of Public Engagement and Office of International Programs.
• Meetings with program faculty.
• Mentoring students as needed.
• The responsibilities also include teaching four Sustainability Education courses and related foundations courses across EPOL concentrations per academic year.
• Teaching assignments will be consistent with the candidate's area of expertise within Sustainability/Environmental Education.
Salary and Starting Date: The budgeted salary range for the position is $68,0000 to $80,000. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including equivalent years in rank, training, and field or discipline; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs. The proposed starting date is January 16, 2025, or soon thereafter.
