Job Summary
The mission of the Everest Group Compliance Department is to ensure, as a second line of defense, that legal, regulatory and ethics risks across Everest Group are effectively and efficiently controlled.

As a Compliance Support Director on the Compliance Program Support team, you will collaborate with Legal and subject matter Compliance Officers in working with insurance and reinsurance business and support functions to create and maintain controls over the various legal and regulatory compliance and ethics risks affecting Everest's growing businesses.

You will have the freedom to take initiative and think outside the box to help design and execute programs to meet Everest's compliance goals and to promote the compliance program across the organization by making risk assessment, testing, and other interactions run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

You will use knowledge of commercial insurance and reinsurance to establish credibility with business and support function leaders so that the Compliance Department will be viewed as part of their team solving today's business challenges.

This is a hybrid position working 3 days onsite in our Warren, NJ office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities, in collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer, Compliance Program Support Officer, and subject-matter Compliance Officers, include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in building up a second line of defense, consistent with requirements across jurisdictions, for all insurance and reinsurance business controls across all compliance topics
  • Input into the Annual Compliance Plan, which will reflect tasks and priorities across topics for each year, especially toward ensuring efficient allocation of Compliance and business resources and setting priorities
  • Assist in coordination of the conduct of initial and ongoing risk assessments across all compliance topics, to help set priorities and enable deployment of available resources to meet the Annual Compliance Plan, as necessary
  • Assist in design and implementation of a testing and consultation program, prioritized by level of inherent and residual risk, as necessary
  • Support subject-matter Compliance Officers in the planning and execution of training programs, as necessary
  • Assist in maintaining awareness of emerging issues and areas of risk, working with internal legal experts, and accessing outside sources of information, as necessary
  • Assisting business, Legal, and key support functions to resolve identified issues, respond to government or regulatory examinations and inquiries, and ensure that going-forward controls are effective, key role in the management of regulatory examinations and inquiries and
  • Assisting with the development, review and distribution of interpretive guidance or communications to the business in order to help ensure awareness of relevant Compliance topics
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
  • 4-year college degree required
  • 7-10 years' experience in the Property and Casualty ("P&C") (re)insurance industry, with insurance companies or producers, required
  • Significant experience handling or facilitating compliance-related functions and matters, in P&C (re)insurance (preferred) or other insurance-related organizations
  • Significant experience in project management and troubleshooting cross-functional projects
  • Experience in planning, developing and executing training programs
  • Industry designations related to compliance or (re)insurance a plus. Paralegal experience desirable
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
  • Relationship-building, advocacy, and presentation skills, to create and operate Compliance Department Programs and build Compliance Department credibility and ensure acceptance of necessary compliance measures by all constituencies
  • Strong desire to be part of a collegial, collaborative and high-functioning Compliance Program Support team
  • Familiarity with the following compliance topics required:
    • Insurance and Reinsurance Law and Regulation, Anti-Trust, Anti-Fraud
    • Economic Sanctions and Anti-Boycott, Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery
    • Code of Conduct/Ethics/Conflicts of Interest
    • Securities Trading Laws
    • Privacy and Data Security
    • Records Management
  • Familiarity with regulatory information management systems such as Wolters Kluwer, APCIA, Ethidex, LexisNexis, EQS, etc. helpful
  • Base of insurance knowledge required, of insurance products, including workers compensation, casualty, management liability, property, and marine and aviation/aerospace coverages; insurance distribution, including producers, MGUs and program administrators; claims handling; Finance and Treasury functions, as related to Economic Sanctions and/or Financial Crime Compliance
  • Ability to relate (re)insurance product, industry, and compliance subject matter knowledge to Everest's business, to understand risks and add value in formulating effective controls
  • Proficiency in written communication; facility with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Proactivity and initiative, and a desire to put your stamp on this role in our Group Compliance Department
  • Judgement and ability to prioritize work considering time urgency, risk severity and available resources
