Job Description

GPIis a full-service Engineering and construction inspection firm with offices in 22 states and 1800+ employees. Our Metro DC team comprises Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Commissioning engineers and designers.

We seek a Construction Administration professional with 15+ years of experience to join our growing team. You will work under the guidance of the MEP & Structural Services to respond to RFIs from the clients and contractors regarding projects we have designed. Familiarity with engineering design for building systems is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret contract documents, shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Review submittals, RFI's, change orders, and project scopes of work.
  • Coordinate work with MEP and Structural disciplines.
  • Attend project construction meetings (virtual and in-person as needed).
  • Visit site to troubleshoot coordination issues that may arise during construction.
  • Perform quality control review of design plans.
  • Prepare/modify construction specifications and scopes of work.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, owners, or other stakeholders as needed.
  • On-site observation of work progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and document site observations (punchlist at pre-ceiling close-in and substantial completion).
Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience designing building systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Experience with construction observation and/or management of building construction projects.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
