Overall account and client manager, responsible for overall project and market success from date of award with little to no operational oversight. The McCownGordon Manufacturing Business unit core markets will be within the Life Sciences, Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Electronics Manufacturing, and General Industrial. This key role will lead large / multiple projects and teams, responsible for overall profitability, chargeability, and team development. Manages and leads the preconstruction process from start to finish including the development of proposals and leading client interviews or presentations during client pursuits. Maintains industry network and participates in community or professional associations. Operational leader in helping implement company initiatives and growing culture.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Follows standard McCownGordon procedures and policies to accomplish the following:

OPERATIONS

  • Leads the development of the Project Financial Plan (PFP) and executes plan in coordination with the project team. Overall responsibility for P&L and financial plan and outcome.
  • Identifies and manages appropriate market specific design partners.
  • Responsible for all phases of large Design/Build project.
  • Manages overall project risk. Leads teams to analyze potential risks to minimize or eliminate them.
  • Leads team to manage schedule and budget.
  • Manages complex or difficult situations without oversight, ensures issues are resolved and involves the appropriate leaders as necessary.
  • Ensures projects are completed with minimal fee erosion though efficient and effective closeout.
  • Ensures team comprehension of Owner and Trade Partner contracts and ensures legal review with project team and General Counsel.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION/ RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
  • Manages overall account and client management.
  • Develops and implements action plans based on client feedback and surveys.
  • Leads conflict resolution, ensures issues are resolved and involves the appropriate leaders as necessary.

PRECONSTRUCTION SERVICES
  • Assists with the review and negotiation of contract terms with clients.
  • Leads the entire preconstruction process. Guides team of preconstruction, project management, field and support services to accomplish associated preconstruction activities on large or multiple projects.
  • Maximizes rates and chargeability within each GMP.
  • Sets up project for success across entire group, develops preconstruction strategy to reduce risk and enhance overall profitability.
  • Communicates to client throughout entire process on all aspects of the process.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
  • Takes active role in project pursuit activities; assists business or market leader, marketing and project development with preparation of proposals.
  • Leads team or participates in project interview preparation and represents the company in interview meetings.
  • Participates actively in community and professional associates taking leadership roles within these groups.
  • Assists with developing networks and participating in community and industry associations.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
  • Assists VP, Business Unit/Market Leader in managing staffing and chargeability.
  • Ensures high performing and engaged operations team through effective development and retention of associates.
  • Assists VP, Business Unit / Market Leader in identifying high performers and personnel risks. Works with team to develop career roadmaps and provide opportunity for development.
  • Recruits and assists in the hiring process to continue to build talent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • 15+ years' experience in Construction Management working on industrial construction projects, preferably manufacturing facilities (Life Sciences, Food and Beverage, Consumer Products, and/or General Industrial).
  • Demonstrated success leading multiple project teams, and/or large complex projects, with highest of quality.
  • Proven success in coaching, mentoring, and leading teams.
  • Proven success in leading with project pursuits, generating, qualifying, and managing leads, and participating in community or professional associations.
  • Proficiency in using applicable technology and systems, including MS Project, Bluebeam, SharePoint, pVault, and drawing management applications.
  • At least a fundamental understanding of BIM applications, Procore, and Sage/Timberline.
  • Proven success in thinking strategically and leading company-wide initiatives.
  • Experience coordinating with architects and engineers during the design process.
  • Proficient in running project-related meetings, including Progress, OAC, and pre-installation meetings.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires work in an office environment or at construction and/or manufacturing sites, which may include special protective clothing/equipment and exposure to extreme temperatures/conditions.

McCownGordon executes projects across the United States, this position will require travel up to 30%.
