As a member of the Customer Contract Administration team supporting BD Biosciences, this role will report to the Sales Contract Manager and implement best practice offer development capabilities aligned with BDB's US sales strategy.

This position will follow documented best practice contract offer development and associated policies, ensuring that the US Commercial Operations strategy is implemented. Working in partnership within the Commercial Ops team and the BDB Sales Team, cross functional Business Partners, Finance, Legal Partners, Implementation team and Commercial Customers, this associate provides best in class, contract offer development and asset lifecycle management capabilities and within established policies, processes and governance to ensure the effective implementation of complex, critical contract activities which manage business opportunities and risk appropriately.

Essential Responsibilities

Sales Contracts:

  • Prepare Reagent Rental Contract proposals using appropriate contract templates and following departmental and BDB policies;
  • Adhere to defined contract review/approval workflow process; m anage the contract lifecycle through to contract execution including review/analysis, drafting/redlining, negotiation, facilitating internal approvals, execution, amendment, extension;
  • Scope includes capital sale agreements, master supply agreements, reagent rental contracts, service contracts, loaner/demo agreements, and other related contract documents;
  • Ensure that risk is mitigated, that provisions used are preferred or acceptable per company standard, and that contract terms & conditions are negotiated in accordance with established BD Commercial and Customers Operations policies and procedures (including the Harmonized Terms Playbook) and other legal, regulatory, pricing and business requirements.
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with cross-functional business/legal partners, as needed, to address contract provisions in customer paper, customer redlines and comments; exercise good judgment in determining when guidance from appropriate subject matter experts is warranted;
  • Serve the BDB Business Unit as a key internal-business partner, with high quality, responsive service, negotiation competencies and value add to drive revenue growth, while adhering to BD practices and policies; collaborate closely with the sales team to create a profitable sales contract and ensure proper documentation is presented and executed.
  • Maintain digital contract files, records and contract lifecycle statuses on a real time basis in Apttus/CLM.
  • As appropriate, ensure a smooth hand-off of executed contracts to contract set-up team.


Commercial Bids:
  • Thoroughly review and understand the content and submission requirements for BDB Commercial Bids;
  • Schedule meetings with Sales and other content contributors as needed to discuss requirements, delegate work and coordinate completion of bid submission;
  • Follow up with those responsible for providing required content to ensure bid is completed and submitted within the deadline;
  • Proactively communicate with responsible Sales Reps regarding status of bid response preparation.


Requirements and Skills
  • BA/BS required (in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, 3+ years of experience in the applicable area)
  • 3+ years d emonstrated experience as part of a Contracting team
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a position with matrix accountability preferred
  • General understanding of HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley, revenue recognition guidance, Internal Audit, regulatory controls, and business strategy preferred
  • Proven ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of organization
  • Ability to partner with key Sales, Finance, Legal Counsel and other Sales Support Leaders to develop contract offerings representing complex concepts and defining the business value of solutions in a clear, understandable way
  • Hybrid work schedule (minimum 3 days in office per week)
  • Must be able to work independently, multitask and prioritize workload in order to meet demanding deadlines including flexible work hours; adaptable in handling changing priorities
  • Ability to act with speed, agility and accountability to drive desirable outcomes
  • Ability to effectively balance commercial considerations with legal and liability concerns
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel required
  • Proficiency in Salesforce/CPQ, Apttus/CLM highly desirable
