Work Schedule: Standard workdays are 9 hours; overtime after 45 hours. Shift timing: 10 PM - 7 AM Central Time.

Job Description:
As a member of the Engineering team, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for all plant equipment controls engineering and improvement functions, as well as overall plant operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop implementation strategies for modifications to plant layout (AutoCAD) and production processes.
Modify programming for PLCs (typically Allen Bradley), HMIs, robots, vision inspection cameras, electric torque tools, and plant automation as needed, often while directing the Maintenance team.
Troubleshoot problems with processes and hardware.
Coordinate with others to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
Provide technical assistance as needed.
Develop and supervise all aspects of electrical control systems for plant equipment.
Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software.
Analyze plant processes, design, and implement improvements.
Maintain quality and safety standards.
Design and/or specify work fixtures and modify as required by production.
Research and purchase tools and equipment as required.
Manage projects, including installation and modifications of tools and equipment by contractors and the internal Maintenance team.
Analyze ergonomic concerns and implement solutions.
Manage facility alterations and improvements.
Instruct maintenance on modifications or repairs to production equipment.
Supervise Skilled Trades for projects and cover Supervisor absences.
Ensure compliance with legislation: OHSA, CSA, ESA, PHSR, WSIB, Human Rights, Employment Standards, and Labor Relations.
Work safely, report hazards and unsafe conditions, and take all reasonable measures to protect themselves, co-workers, and direct reports.
Use and/or wear personal protective equipment as required by the company.
Perform any other duties as required in pursuance of the function of this position or as directed.
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary Education or Experiential Equivalency.
High School diploma is required.
Degree/Diploma in a related Engineering/Automation discipline.
Experience/Skills:
3 years of experience in a Controls Engineering position within the Manufacturing and/or Automotive Industry.
Understanding of JIT (just in time) manufacturing.
Strong understanding of industrial automation and safety requirements.
Lean Manufacturing.
Strong skills in ladder logic, preferably Allen-Bradley Systems; PLC5, SLC, and ControLogix 5000-5580.
Strong skills in HMI Design, preferably FactoryTalk View and Ignition; WonderWare, LabVIEW.
