Description:
Overview: We are seeking an experienced Building Controls Project Manager with a strong background in managing control systems projects and hands-on experience with smart building controls. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of controls projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires excellent project management skills, technical expertise in smart building controls, and the ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at coordinating with various construction trades to ensure seamless project integration and execution.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage client engagement, product purchasing, budgeting, installation, logistics, and rebate facilitation for approved projects.
  • Address challenges that arise throughout the course of a project.
  • Regularly communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, including property managers, building owners, engineers, subcontractors, manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Facilitate effective internal project handoff.
  • Drive internal communication regarding project management progress for assigned projects.
  • Proficiency in project management systems and tools, including Salesforce and our proprietary Proposal Tool.
  • Negotiate labor pricing and site assignments for go-back work.
  • Manage Labor Partners for all installation activities.
  • Review, approve, and complete project documentation by task due dates.
  • Ensure timely completion and reduction of project go-backs.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators for customer pre- and post-calls.
  • Communicate change order activities to account management and customers.
  • Manage change order tasks to maintain established Project GM.
  • Identify and recommend additional project resources as needed.
  • Monitor project financials and profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong writing skills, conveying complex topics clearly to individuals with varying technological knowledge.
  • Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between different trade teams.
  • Collaborative personality and strong team player.
  • Understand project and program financials.
  • Proficient in customer communication.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience presenting project plans to customers.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and OneNote for tracking and analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and multitasking ability.
  • Effective working with limited supervision.
  • Adherence to deadlines and accountability for deliverables.
  • Financial management aptitude.
  • Customer/client focus.

Education:
  • A four-year degree is preferred in business, electrical engineering, construction management, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in controls project management.
  • Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and energy management solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management software and control systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with construction plans required.
