Job Title:

Data Scientist

Location:

Washington, DC

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Apply data mining techniques.

• Do statistical analysis and build high quality prediction systems integrated with products.

• Comfortable programming in Python, R and other languages.

• Building ETL pipelines for ingesting and conforming data for further analysis (e.g., AWS Glue, Pentaho, etc.)

• Automate classification of text using machine learning techniques.

Minimum Requirements:

• Fluent with cloud-based data science tools (AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, QuickSight; Azure OpenAI Studio, etc.)

• Building automated data classification systems.

• Experienced with database architectures and structures including SQL, NoSQL, and vector databases.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 5+ years of related experience required.

• Experience building text classifiers that label unstructured text into predefined categories using Relevance Vector Machines, decision trees, linear regression, Naïve Bayes classifiers, Named Entity Recognition, and related supervised learning techniques;

• Custom software development for Machine Learning in Python using common libraries such as NumPy, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, and SQLAlchemy;

• Experience with automated and manual text data annotation using tools such as SageMaker Ground Truth, Prodi.gy, SuperAnnotate, Doccano, and custom software solutions;

• Expertise with building Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines for machine learning using custom Python code and enterprise ETL tools such as Pentaho, AWS Glue, Hadoop, and Apache Airflow;

• Extensive knowledge of the agencies, programs, and overall organization of the U.S. federal government;
