Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Two years of experience conducting discrimination and sexual harassment investigations within an Equal Opportunity Office, Title IX Office, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of community partner organizations.
  • Microsoft Office software suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook; and standard office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Experience with Maxient or other similar databases.
  • Experience in higher education working with faculty, staff, and student populations.
Job Description:

Supports the Assistant Vice President & Title IX Coordinator at Texas State University by managing and performing duties as they relate to grievances alleging discrimination, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.

Job Duties:

  • Processes and assists alleged victims with the filing of EEO including sex-based discrimination complaints, to include guiding individuals to appropriate campus and community resources and informing them of the University's process for responding to and otherwise handling complaints.
  • Assist with managing the employees of the Office of Equal Opportunity.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle complex situations, including responding to parties in a sensitive and informed manner, ably tracks multiple cases, meets case deadlines, maintains neutrality, works well under stress, and performs duties impartially and confidentially throughout the investigation process.
  • Oversee a case management database designed to organize, manage, and track incidents related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; analyze the data from the database; identify systemic problems relating to complaints; and develop new initiatives, revise current initiatives, revise policies, and/or redesign current processes.
  • Prepares, maintains, and reviews data/records pertaining to trainings, reports/complaints, investigations, findings, and other data/records.
  • Conducts investigations of complaints, to include collecting evidence, sending notices to the parties, interviewing parties and witnesses, drafting reports, and other investigative duties. Ensures that all parties have been notified of grievance decisions and of the right to, and procedures for, appeal, if applicable.
  • Develops and implements a case management plan for each investigation.
  • Provides appropriate communications and notifications to the parties.
  • Protects the integrity of the investigative process and privacy of the parties throughout the investigation.
  • Conducts prompt, thorough, fair, and impartial Title IX investigations within policy timelines.
  • Prepares comprehensive investigation reports and summaries of all findings based upon an analysis of all relevant evidence gathered during the investigation.
  • Identifies and analyzes trends or patterns in case data and prepares regularly scheduled, detailed reports; uses data to identify process improvements; works with management to establish and maintain investigation procedures.
  • Evaluates and advises on potential risk exposure associated with complaints investigated.
  • Participates in investigation team or work group meetings; prepares and assembles materials for use at such meetings.
  • Assists in the administration of supportive measures.
  • Prepares and disseminates educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the campus community of their rights and responsibilities under state and federal laws.
  • Develops and provides education, training, and outreach programming related to University policies.
  • Keeps up with policy and procedural changes that will affect the scope or practice of case management, as well as complete training and professional development related applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Assists in preparing reports as necessary to comply with State and Texas State System requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
