The Site Reliability Organization works with groups across the company to ensure that our customers get a world class, highly reliable experience when interacting with any of PayPal's products (Ex: PayPal, Braintree, Venmo, etc). The selected candidate will have a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on scale, performance, and customer experience by building highly available and scalable platforms using emerging technologies like Cloud, AI/ML.

You should have the technical expertise to lead software and architecture discussions and guide cross- functional product and engineering teams through functional definition, solution, and integration stages on large scale. They have a proven track record of leading and mentoring their teams to reach their highest potential.

In your day-to-day role you will be responsible for:

• Drive a results-oriented culture with a strong focus on engineering excellence, execution, and craftsmanship.

• Recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead the best engineering and management talent

• Ability to lead complex discussions and engagements that involve multiple project teams from PayPal and our partner organizations

• Build and scale platforms

• Construct a business and technical architecture that levers industry standards and use cases to create operating efficiency

• Provide strategic guidance and direction to development teams

• Manage geographically distributed teams.

• Anticipate and aggressively remove obstacles that slow down or prevent products and programs from delivering on product and program objectives.

• Balance urgent and effective action, commitment to excellence, and taking initiative to resolve problems; holds internal stakeholders accountable where appropriate.

• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner.

What do you need to bring:

• Solid track record of over-achieving engineering and platform delivery and scaling targets

• 15+ years' experience as an Engineering leader.

• Experience in infrastructure engineering, site reliability, devops practices and cloud (GCP preferred).

• Experience in Payments, FinTech, and Financial Services industry is required.

• Passion for leading and developing direct reports; providing guidance, consultation, and opportunities towards improving their professional skill set; ability to lead and influence direct reports remotely

• Excellent time management skills with ability to manage a large, diverse set of to- do's - vigorously prioritize, stay on top of multiple work streams, monitor progress, hold owners accountable

• Communication style motivated by brevity and purposeful outcomes with experience interfacing with executives

• Experience in building and leading a geographically distributed team

• AI experience a huge plus
