The Role

In this role, you will lead and oversee strategic initiatives, governance, and operational excellence efforts within Global Quality. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor to the SVP of Global Quality and the Global Quality Leadership Team (GQLT), providing oversight for key business operations, project management, and driving the execution of critical global initiatives. The Director will be instrumental in supporting the business planning process, integrating operational excellence into the organization, and ensuring alignment with enterprise-level goals.

This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams across Quality, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Control, and Regulatory to implement strategic initiatives that drive efficiency, scalability, and continuous improvement in quality processes.

Here's What You'll Do

  • Strategic Leadership & Operations:
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the SVP of Global Quality and the GQLT on key quality-related topics.
  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual business cycle, including Long-Range Planning (LRP), budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain the Global Quality operational roadmaps and ensure alignment with digital and quality management system (QMS) initiatives.
  • Oversee operational governance, ensuring project portfolio management and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Support the implementation of Operational Excellence (OE) frameworks to drive continuous improvement across Global Quality functions.
  • Business Excellence:
  • Establish Global Quality Operational Excellence (OE) programs, focusing on improving business performance and ensuring sustainable scalability.
  • Partner with Global Quality HR and Finance to manage headcount, budgeting, and quarterly reforecasts.
  • Facilitate the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality and operational metrics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Project Management Office (PMO) Oversight:
  • Lead the PMO for Global Quality, coordinating project planning, resource allocation, and risk management across functions.
  • Support the execution of high-impact strategic projects and ensure project governance processes are followed.
  • Analyze and present the performance of the organization to the management team, identifying areas for improvement and driving accountability for action items.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Develop and implement communication strategies for Global Quality, ensuring consistent messaging across the organization.
  • Create high-impact executive communications, including presentations for the Executive Committee, Global Quality town halls, and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the liaison between the SVP Global Quality and key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring appropriate decision-making and alignment.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Mentor and develop cross-functional teams and direct reports, promoting a culture of operational excellence and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the broader organization, including external partners, to benchmark best practices and introduce innovative solutions to quality challenges.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Here's What You'll Need (Basic Qualifications)
  • Advanced degree in Quality, Business, or a technical discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience within the biopharmaceutical industry, including experience in quality leadership, GMP operations, or GXP.

  • Strong background in operational excellence, project management, and business governance.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex, global quality projects.
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment and operate effectively in ambiguity.
  • Strong knowledge of US, EU, Japan, and ICH regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital systems and quality management software.
  • Experience in business planning, financial management, and resource allocation in a fast-paced environment.
