Job Summary

The Middle College Director is responsible for administration, recruitment and promotion, and daily activities as they relate to providing a quality educational experience for the students involved in Middle College at multiple college locations.

Job Duties

  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Promotion/Communication: Recruitment and on-going collaboration with local school systems, guidance counselors and student parents. Create promotional materials and attend functions in the service area to promote Middle College and Dual Enrollment opportunities for students. Communicate often with secondary school counselors and leaders to encourage participation in the Middle College program.
  • Case Management for participants: Provide one-on-one advising appointments with students to ensure progress towards their intended educational goals, provide interventions for students who receive academic/early alerts, review financial status, provide structured experiences for students on acclimating to college through transitioning to the University after graduation.
  • Planning/Coordination: Develop a master schedule of classes each academic year in consultation with the Academic Deans, each school system and site campus to allow for travel times back to the high school. Collaborate with the Mechatronics Program Director to ensure general education courses are scheduled to meet programmatic needs.
  • Financial Aid: Certify students each semester to receive the Middle College Scholarship, Dual Enrollment Grant or Mechatronics Grant as per state regulations. Collaborate with the RSCC Foundation with potential and current donors to the Middle College Scholarship fund.
  • Administration: prepare reports (attendance/grades) for high schools and college administration, implement new initiatives, develop website content, budget preparation and management, supervision of technical clerk, special event planning (Cording/Commencement) and seek feedback and promote involvement from the Middle College Advisory Board.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability and commitment to work collaboratively with high school and college administrators.
Knowledge of Tennessee high school graduation requirements.
