Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:

Has as his/her primary duty the overall management of nursing and other assigned departments within the system with 24-hour accountability for operations and quality outcomes. Is responsible for short- and long-range planning, staffing, and development of a budget for the departments. Integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services to achieve objectives. Establishes policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for the departments consistent with organization's goals. Works through managerial and supervisory personnel to accomplish set goals and objectives. Supports System and Nursing Strategic Plans, Relationship-Based Care, and Shared Leadership.

This position is responsible for inpatient acute and critcal care departments.

Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in hospital setting.
  • Nursing Degree from accredited program. Master's degree in nursing, health care administration or business administration required.
  • Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland.
  • Certification in specialty or executive leadership required.
  • Knowledge of licensure and regulatory agency requirements.
  • The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served.
  • He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and procedures
