Job Description

The fixed-term/temporary Director/Technical Director will work closely with producers and technical crew to ensure the show rundown is executed cleanly and accurately and run daily crew meetings that include camera blocking and studio direction. Clear and concise dissemination of control room traffic to the necessary personnel is critical and a sharp eye on detail is a must. In addition, the primary responsibility of the Director/Technical Director includes support of NJTV newscasts, remote productions/uplinks, client rentals, live/pre-tape productions and special programming.

Please note this is a fixed-term temporary role to provide on-call support.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with producers and crew to create & organize production elements which include live shots, graphics, video playback and camera blocking;
  
• Check graphics and audio deliverables to make sure they are suitable for air;
  
• Attend and collaborate in daily show meetings;
  
• Ability to Direct & Technical Direct multi-camera productions in a fast paced environment and adapt to changes on the fly;
  
• Build and organize switcher effects, transitions and specialty wipes;
  
• Help provide solutions for studio, and control room production needs;
  
• Work closely with Engineering to ensure all equipment is meeting expectations;
  
• Ability to oversee work of other control room staff;
  
• Other relevant duties, as assigned.
  

Qualified candidates will possess a strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Additional qualifications include:

• Minimum of 5 years of studio experience directing live, fast-paced news and or talk shows required, with related TD experience in live, multi-camera studio production, preferred;
  
• Proficient in operation and building of effects on Ross Vision;
  
• Fluency in TV terminology and understanding of studio technology, including robotic camera systems and lighting with the goal of identifying and addressing potential issues;
  
• General understanding of all aspects and duties of the control room, including: Stage Managing, Robotic Camera, Teleprompter, Lighting, Audio & Video Playback;
  
• Familiarity with Vmix, Ross Acuity Switcher, Ross Xpression, Nexio Servers;
  
• Proficient in live studio and remote program operations, preferred;
  
• Knowledge of live news, talk and remote production operations, preferred;
  
• Ability to work early mornings & holidays, preferred;
  
• Availability to cover breaking news, preferred;
  
• Proficiency in Dalet Galaxy or similar newsroom computer system a plus, preferred;
  
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. and set / strike studio gear, preferred.

The compensation range for this position is $60.00 - $62.50 per hour. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
