SUMMARY
The Electrician will assist an electrician while learning how to perform the duties independently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
The duties the Electrician Apprentice will be learning are to: read blue prints for the equipment, layout, assemble, install, test and repair electrical wiring. They will be able to complete the entire process of the electrical wiring and functioning of custom-made equipment.
Follow instructions and learn how to layout, assemble, install, test and repair electrical wiring.
Read and understand engineering designs/plans and build to specs.
Learn what type of wiring is needed for different jobs and the best way to install.
Learn to assemble electrical systems and support structures; install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings, using rivets, bolts, soldering.
Learn to complete point-to-point wiring, and install a wide variety of electrical components including PLC's, relays, lights, switches, etc....
Learn to conduct testing to ensure quality and meets requirements.
Assist with other shop functions as needed.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 1 years relevant
experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education / experience.
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
A successful electrician apprentice should have the following skills and qualifications: Basic understanding of how electric fixtures work, Oral and written communication skills, Ability to learn quickly through oral instruction or observation, Willingness to learn on the job, Good motor skills and finger dexterity.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
The ability to read and understand engineering designs/plans and build to specs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers, , reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Regularly required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel or crouch. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general shop noises with machinery, welders, etc.
