In your End-to-End Material Optimization Consultant role, you'll help us deliver better care for billions of people around the world. The incumbent will provide technical expertise and leadership for end-to-end raw material optimization for the Personal Care Material Value Stream to achieve total cost of ownership targets. This position will assess the highest opportunity areas for assigned materials and business processes and work with the manufacturing sites, suppliers, R&D and procurement to address areas of inefficiencies and waste. This role has accountability for supporting the delivery of the annual material total cost of ownership (TCO) targets and reducing material waste across Personal Care. Responsibilities include deployment of Value Stream approaches to multiple materials, problem solving End-to-End to improve material efficiencies and leveraging our suppliers as a competitive advantage to reduce TCO.

Your Key Responsibilities include:

Material Waste Reduction Strategies:

  • Identifies and leads Material Waste opportunities and sector processes specific to supporting the Fuel-to-Grow Manufacturing Workstream targets across Personal Care. Owns the Material Waste sector management systems.
  • Develop material waste reduction strategies based on lean principles.
  • Implement solutions to minimize waste and enhance efficiency.

Material Continuous Improvement:

  • Responsible for providing staff materials value stream support for a variety of material categories including addressing safety, quality and cost of materials within the category.
  • Connects closely with the R&D, Procurement, Quality and Manufacturing teams to drive the characterization of the raw materials impact on process. Use established processes to fully document knowledge for upstream development activity.

Value Stream Mapping and Analysis:

  • Defines and maps the current state of the value stream from end to end using facts and data and sets strategy for improvements identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and waste.
  • Envisions the future state of the value stream using Lean tools to eliminate waste and improve process stability and material flow. Links this future state to platform strategy deployment.
  • Identify areas for improvement, such as excess inventory, transportation delays, or overproduction.
  • Develop a roadmap to achieve the desired state, considering process improvements, technology enhancements, and organizational changes.

Lean and Continuous Improvement:

  • Leverage deep experience in lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
  • Drive initiatives to streamline processes, reduce lead times, and enhance overall value creation.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts related to material flow, quality and cost issues.

General:

  • Exerts effective leadership, determines customer expectations, engages cross functional resources and establishes control to assure results.
  • Drives breakthrough cross functional improvement across the supply chain, preventing sub-optimization.
  • Implement activities within areas of responsibility and across Personal Care as appropriate that ensure effective Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost through consistent implementation of practices.

Qualifications:

  • Position requires knowledge and experience typically associated with a bachelor's degree or advanced degree in supply chain, engineering or related and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Have a desire to progress into future leadership roles within the regional supply chain team.
  • 5+ years' experience in a high-speed industrial manufacturing environment/plant experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience in value stream management, lean, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for driving positive change and creating value.
  • Strong knowledge/experience in LEAN thinking and tools. Experience with problem solving across all 4M's (man, machine, methods, materials) preferred.
  • Proven ability to positively influence and motivate individuals in the value stream at all organizational levels.
  • Must have direct or indirect manufacturing/operations or supply chain experience, as well as knowledge of organizational structure.
  • Incumbent would possess demonstrated ability to organize and lead multi-functional teams and foster a proactive team environment.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to motivate, empower, train, and coach a diverse group of team members.
  • Experience with developing vision and strategy, demonstrated problem-solving mindset, strong project management skills, and proficiency with MS Suite are highly desired.
  • Experience in change management in large, complex organizations in addition to coaching and mentoring at all levels to drive collaboration across teams and functions is highly desired.
  • Effectively demonstrate KC Compass Ways of Working in performance of his/her leadership duties (Focus on Consumers, Play to Win, Move Fast, Grow Our People).
  • Normal scheduled hours may vary based on the need to support 24/7 Operations.
  • Travel is expected be in the 25% range but at times could exceed that percentage to support business needs. The majority of travel is within region, with the potential for international travel.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment. Some shift work could be required based on the need to interact with operating teams.
