University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary:

The Event Manager is one of several individuals within the Office of Development Events and is responsible for planning, production and implementation of a variety of donor related events. Examples of donor events include Board/Volunteer Engagement meetings, donor recognition events, dinners, luncheons, athletic (Football & basketball pre-game/half time) hospitality, campaign events, regional events, award dinners, and any additional events as defined by the Vice Chancellor for University Development.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

This individual must have previous event management experience. Must be self-motivated, proactive, creative and extremely organized with great attention to detail and able to multitask and prioritize a great number of tasks/projects each day often in a fast-paced environment interacting with a wide range of people. This individual must have excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills. This individual must be able to work relatively independently on many projects. This individual must have the ability to research quickly and find needed locations and vendors. This position demands excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office toolsets, administrative skills, and willingness to stay on top of the latest upgrades. Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Direct event planning experience. Knowledge of the University and its physical campus. Experience working in a higher education institution or non-profit. Experience working with offices of Advancement, Development, Communications and University leadership in higher education preferred. Basic HTML and CSS skills as it pertains to email.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements :

Ability to stand for long periods of time and have the physical ability to lift or move items upwards of 30 - 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
