Objectives of this Role:

• Familiar with Motor Freight Bill of Ladings, Invoices, packing list.
• Ensures descriptions of materials correlates with the corresponding paperwork.
• Check condition of containers and contents prior to acceptance of shipments.
• Loads and unloads packages from vehicle.
• Makes on-campus deliveries to buildings and from division stockrooms.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Route Motor Freight trucks and service related vendors on to SwRI campus.
• Be attentive to names, numbers, and building locations and be customer service oriented.
• Make daily deliveries of packages/boxes throughout the campus.
• Opens packages to obtain paperwork/packing list.
• Scans packages for inbound and outbound tracking.
• Comply with all Safety Regulations and standards.
• Cross train in other areas of the Shipping, Receiving department.
• Performs other duties as assigned, or required in order to meet department goals.

Requirements:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Receiving experience, knowledgeable of Motor Freight terms, bill of lading, Invoices, packing list.
• 2 years: Receiving experience, be attentive to detail; work accurately under pressure; effectively communicate with vendors, Institute staff, etc., on the telephone and in person; be able to lift and move, sort objects up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Be able to work indoors and outdoors while delivering, hot, cold, wet.
• A valid/clear driver's license is required.
