Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a Grossing/Histology Specialist to join our dedicated Dermpath Outreach Lab team. In this critical role, you will perform technical functions such as grossing complex and non-complex surgical specimens, histological slide preparation, and supporting diagnostic processes. Key Responsibilities

• Histology Preparation: Perform tasks including embedding, microtomy, staining, and preparing slides for direct immunofluorescence studies.
• Grossing: Handle a variety of specimens, including complex excisions and MOHS procedures, ensuring accurate measurements and orientations.
• Compliance & Quality: Maintain adherence to laboratory safety, CLIA, and CAP standards, and resolve issues impacting test performance.
• Collaboration: Partner with pathologists and assist with proofreading gross descriptions to ensure accuracy.
• Equipment Operation: Operate H&E stainer, cryostat, IHC, and special stains equipment to support lab processes.

• Experience with CoPath preferred.

Qualifications
Education

• Minimum: High school diploma, GED, or Associate's Degree with relevant science coursework (biology, chemistry, or medical laboratory technology).
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/training with 24 semester hours in science courses.

Experience

• Preferred: 1+ years of grossing experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory.

• Not applicable.

Working Environment

• Laboratory environment with exposure to tissue specimens and laboratory equipment.
