Under the direction of the Histology Coordinator perform a wide variety of duties in the day-to-day operation of the Histology and Pathology Labs.

Qualifications
Required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to demonstrate any knowledge or skills necessary to perform testing in his/her assigned laboratory section.

Required at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.

Required High school diploma and 2 years of full-time experience in histotechnology, within the preceding 5 years, in a histology laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology Incorporated or a pathologist eligible for certification in anatomic pathology. Or Completion of the educational requirements needed to take the Histotechnician (HT) exam; successful completion of a NAACLS accredited HT program within the last 5 years or an Associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.

Preferred ASCP certification or equivalent.
