Under general supervision of department management,installs, inspects, maintains, tests and repairs wells, boosters, filter plantcircuitry, and recording instruments. Performs a wide variety of skilled journey-level duties in maintenance,design, modification, construction, installation, and repair of electrical (lowvoltage to 480V) machinery, motors, equipment, devices and water production,distribution system, storage and company facilities. Includes installing, maintaining,calibrating, repairing, troubleshooting, testing and modifying related work asrequired.
This position receives immediate supervision fromdepartment management.
TYPICALDUTIES
1. Troubleshoot,repair, replace, install, and monitor mechanical, electrical and electronicdevices at office facilities, pumping and storage facilities, generators,intakes and treatment plants.
2. Conductpreventative maintenance on Motor Control Centers, distribution panels andassociated equipment.
3. Surveycathodic protection devices on tanks and water mains.
4. Keeprecords and make verbal and written reports of work performed.
5. Attendrequired training, adhere to health and safety practices at all times, assurework is done in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company policyand safety standards, and report to supervisors any irregularities or safetyhazards.
6. Install and configure soft starters and VFDsfor motor control centers.
7. Testperformance of well and booster pumps as well as VFDs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Four years of recent employment performing skilled work in both mechanical repairs and electrical circuitry, or an equivalent combination of experience and specialized training.
Possession of any one of the following: state of Texas Journeyman electricians license ; Qualified Electrical Worker certification; holder of the NFPA Certified Electrical Safety Worker; or the ability to demonstrate the requisite electrical skills and knowledge (per OSHA guidelines) to safely perform the job (as assessed and determined by a 3rd party Electrical Safety Expert).
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, power distribution drawings, control panel wiring, diagrams, and installation manuals for electrical and instrumentation systems.Provide working drawings.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to utilize personal computer (or any other technology platform) and related software applications necessary to review system maps/records, submit and complete trouble tags, and access/review procedures, policies, other company documentation and reporting tools.
Ability to perform strenuous outdoor physical work requiring manual dexterity, agility, strength, stamina and coordination.
Have knowledge of applicable safety practices as required by governmental agencies related to Water Company work.
