Addressing indoor environmental quality issues in healthcare facilities from occupational exposures impacting healthcare personnel to issues of healthcare-associated infections (HAI's), VERTEX's ASHE-trained consultants provide the date, analysis, and solutions to meet the ever increasing needs faced by the healthcare industry.

Job Description

The Healthcare Industrial Hygienist provides support for various Industrial Hygiene and Building Sciences projects by engaging in technical and discipline-related field activities in their assigned region, and nationally on occasion. The Industrial Hygienist I will review existing documentation and data and visual site conditions to evaluate potential exposure risks and under specific circumstances collect samples for laboratory analysis.

  • Conduct project related tasks related to exposure assessments, healthcare compliance, and Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Collect samples from project sites and deliver to third party laboratories for analysis - maintaining strict chain of custody.
  • Prepare technical assessment reports including accurate data/summary tables and/or drawings, perform water loss and mold assessments, risk assessments and reports, OSHA sampling and indoor air quality assessments, etc.
  • Project monitoring and oversight of third-party contractors.
  • Maintain consistent communication of project progress with the assigned project manager and/or clients from start to finish of the project.
  • Maintain assessment and monitoring equipment.
  • Prepare Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sites.
  • Meet utilization and other performance metrics as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
  • Prior work experience as Industrial Hygienist preferred - though not required for this role.
  • Appropriate nationally or state-recognized industrial hygiene and/or OSHA certifications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditions.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines both internally and externally.
  • Ability/willingness for frequent regional travel up to 100%, with occasional overnight, extended stay and/or national travel.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required for this role and have reliable transportation.
  • Required to have annual influenzas vaccination to work on healthcare sites.

Additional Information
  • Walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing of ladders to access and evaluate roofing conditions and roof mounted equipment.
  • Carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularity
  • Participation in VERTEX medical monitoring program.
