Please note, this position will be in person, to be located in the Pima County/Tucson area, however all Faculty may be asked to teach in multiple modalities, including virtual, online or face-to-face.

About the Division

The IT and Cybersecurity program at Pima Community College was created to meet industry demand for qualified IT and Cybersecurity professionals. The specific purpose of the program is to prepare individuals to become IT/Cyber professionals with the talent and abilities to help protect business and industry in Tucson and throughout the country. The programs offered include associate degrees in Cybersecurity, Programming and Systems/Network Administration. PCC also offers stackable certificates, micro-pathways and nationally recognized certifications. The Center of Excellence (CoE) in IT/Cybersecurity provides students hands-on experience in a multitude of technologies. Students run the CoE, including Cyber Operations Center, student run production data center and a live fire Arizona Cyber Warfare Range. The CoE provides a nexus of quality IT learning for the community and is a focal point for practical and innovative IT/Cybersecurity training.

About the Position

Multiple positions are available beginning in July 2025. Faculty teach and work a varied schedule over the entire year and could include afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.

This position will provide a dynamic and fun learning environment in the areas of cybersecurity, networking, systems administration and or programming. Priorities include candidates with industry experience and an interest in teaching all levels of networking, cybersecurity, and programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties:

  • Inspire students and work with them on learning strategies to help them achieve academic success
  • Use current, effective classroom management techniques
  • Monitor and continuously improve instruction to ensure Student Learning Outcomes are met on a classroom, discipline/program, and college level
  • Evaluate student performance and provide prompt feedback
  • Continually improve instruction utilizing appropriate delivery methods and formative assessment
  • Evaluate and revise course outlines and course materials
  • Maintain competency and currency in the teaching fields as well as in teaching strategies, subject delivery modalities, and assessment methods
  • Serve actively as a member of the department and discipline groups
  • Participate in fostering community and business partnerships that strengthen educational opportunities in response to industry and academic needs
  • Represent the department and/or campus on college-wide committees
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students and utilize a collegial style in all forms of communication
  • Instruct students in multiple modalities including face to face, hybrid, virtual, and online
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Teaching a broad range of Computer Information System courses with a focus on networking, system administration, programming and cyber security. Deliver this teaching in occupational and academic settings.
  • Ability to adapt and modify instruction based on the instructional needs of students, including working with accommodations and accessibility.
  • Knowledge of appropriate and effective use of assessment information to improve instruction.
  • Evaluation of students' educational progress: ability to maintain high instruction and learning standards and assess students' academic progress in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Teaching in traditional and non-traditional formats such as online, virtual and web-enhanced.
  • Preferred knowledge of curriculum development, course design, and implementation.
  • Maintain knowledge of the resources available to students to assist them with academic and personal challenges, and ability to help students access those resources.
  • Demonstrate competencies in multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity: knowledge of diverse community college student populations, and the ability to address diversity in effective instructional practice and student learning.
  • Appreciation for and understanding of the Community College mission.
Job Requirements

Minimum qualifications requirements for faculty positions are governed by our faculty qualification standards. This position is in an Occupational/Workforce discipline and requires the following to obtain Pima Community College teaching certification:
  • Industry-recognized certification in the field of study and 5 years of work experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and related work experience
  • Industry certifications such as Net+, Security+, CySA+, CEH, PenTest+, OSCP
  • Experience programming in Python, C, C++, assembly and other languages.
  • Experience in Continuous Integration and Development (CI/CD)
  • Experience with requirements gathering and systems design
  • Experience with modern client-server development frameworks
  • Experience teaching developmental, occupational and academic courses
  • Experience with innovative teaching methodologies
  • Experience teaching online courses and/or alternative instructional formats
  • Experience using a Learning Management System

Degrees and courses qualifying for Pima Community College teaching certification must be from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants currently in progress for a degree or additional coursework to meet the minimum qualifications must have the degree conferred and/or coursework completed by May 2025.

  • legible (front and back) and show the name of the regionally accredited institution, the degree conferred, and the page(s) explaining the institution's grading system
  • attached to the application even if they have been submitted in the past

  • The selected candidate(s) must provide Faculty Qualifications & Hiring with official (unopened) transcripts and/or official (unopened) foreign transcript evaluation.

    Selection Process:

    The selection process typically consists of one or two advisory group interview(s), a teaching demonstration, and an administrative interview.
