We at Polar, a Carlisle Company, are seeking a Machine Operator for our Prospect, CT location to join our team. The operator will maintain machinery designed to perform a specific portion of the production process around EPS (Expanded Polystyrene).
Machine Operators are responsible for operating and tending the machines that are used to produce and shape Polar's expanded polystyrene (EPS) blocks. Responsibilities include one or more of the following, depending upon your machine assignment.
* Performs general production activities to ensure efficient, consistent production of high-quality products.
* Safely operates molding machines or expansion machines.
* Inspects finished or in-process products against company standards and specifications for irregularities or rejects.
* Ensures compliance with regard to raw materials, manufacturing processes, and housekeeping.
* Troubleshoots machine or quality issues.
* Maintains documentation and performs administrative tasks relevant to plant operations
* Collaborates with shift supervisor to understand and develop training needs, structure and individual progress for the assigned shift.
* Ensures work area is maintained in order and is free of items, carts and machinery not in use to mitigate safety hazards and maintain good housekeeping practices.
* Performs other job-related duties as required and/or assigned.

* Complies with all Safety procedures and regulations.
* Communicates well with others and works well within a team environment.
* Ensure quality of produced product meets or exceeds customer requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirement:
This position conducts their work in a manufacturing environment with some exposure to the outdoors; there is exposure to loud machinery, fumes, odors, and dust.

* Frequently sit, stand, and walk
* Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and carrying up to 25 lbs.
* Occasional pushing, pulling, twisting, balancing, and stopping
* Continuously perform visual inspections on parts

* High School diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Minimum 2 years experience in a related field or manufacturing environment.
* Qualified to operate various lift trucks
* Basic Math skills
* Critical thinking skills, problem resolution, and strong decision-making ability to self-perform, and make decisions regarding the sequence of set-ups, operations, and processes, including minor modification of pre-programmed computer routines within limits of recognized standard methods and procedures.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, education verification (if applicable), reference check, and physical abilities test (PAT).
