The Maintenance Operations Manager in Franklin WI will be a key stakeholder for a 340,000 square foot conversion facility and will play an integral part of Saputo's strategy to optimize its cheese network in North America. Saputo has a strong history in Wisconsin and are proud to be expanding our footprint in this area.
This senior level position oversees the maintenance function at this production facility and reports to the Maintenance Manager. In this role you will Interface with the operational departments and work closely with the Engineering Department on cost saving projects, capital improvements, process and packaging flow, regulatory compliance, waste management, and energy conservation. This person will be instrumental in planning and implementing the maintenance program of production machinery and equipment.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
- Provide leadership and direction to plant maintenance function of a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation.
- Actively promote and support food safety and product quality programs (i.e. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, quality and sanitation standards) and initiatives though working closely with the Quality Assurance team, plant management, operations and employees.
- Evaluate Maintenance personnel skills and abilities and establish a training program for development within the Department. Coach and develop employees to achieve continuous improvement in performance levels.
- Troubleshoot machinery and process systems in the event of breakdowns. Coordinate with production/packaging supervision downtime windows for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and repair work.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective verbal and written communication with the Maintenance Manager, plant management team, supervisors, service groups and all employees to ensure smooth operation of the process.
- Manages the maintenance and technical needs for the faciality.
- Effectively supervises the plant maintenance coordinators as it relates to purchasing of parts and part inventory to ensure budgets are adhered to and the plant is adequately stocked with the appropriate levels of parts, supplies, and maintenance consumables.
- Implement corrective actions identified by key maintenance performance indicators to increase overall equipment effectiveness.
- Remains current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
- Shares and implements "best practices" within the maintenance department and partners with other departments to ensure plaint operations are performing at acceptable performance standards.
- Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring effective planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
- Provides effective management of employees directly or indirectly through supervisors to ensure effective selection, retention, development, and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate in negotiations, grievance meetings, or any other contract related activities and discussions.

You Are Best Suited for the Role If You Have the Following Experiences, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial mechanical, or related discipline preferred.
- A minimum of five (5) years maintenance experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage manufacturing industry; supervisor or manager level experience required.
- Ability to coach, train, lead, and retain a team of employees.
- Ability to recognize opportunities to simplify processes and create efficiencies.
- Working knowledge of boilers, refrigeration/freon chillers, PLCs, electrical, cooling towers, and packaging equipment a plus.
- Ability to lead, influence and motivate a large workforce through interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to logically determine mechanical/electrical/process control system functions, to determine the most efficient method of resolving malfunctions.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs, ability to lead people through change.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
