Job Description Summary

Food Safety and Quality professional focused on foreign material (FM) analysis and risk mitigation processes and programs. Responsible to assist plants in determination of root cause and corrective actions for FM incidents. Identifies appropriate FM reduction technology for intended use. Aligns with Engineering, FSQ and Operations in determining operational validation and functional installation of FM removal equipment. Partners with all LW cross-functional departments to assess, manage and eliminate FM findings/introductions across the entire Enterprise.

Job Description

  • Leads cross-functional groups on FM reduction/removal strategy aimed at determining best practices in FM detection and prevention.
  • Determines validation requirements for x-rays, metal detectors, and partners with engineering and operations on the installation and operational validation of this equipment.
  • Responsible for managing and updating the LW Enterprise FM procedures.
  • Identifies new FM detection and reduction technology and partners with engineering, operations and FSQ on implementation strategy.
  • Partners with plants on root cause analysis and corrective actions for FM incidents. Develops appropriate training for all pillars to conduct their own root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Determines requirements for Critical Control Points (CCPs).
  • Develops relationships and partners cross-functionally with Legal, Engineering, Quality, Product Development, and other departments as-needed.
  • Monitors Global customer requirements for foreign material detection practices, sensitivity (detection limits) and equipment required.
  • Analyze and trends foreign material detections, through monitoring consumer and customer complaints.
  • Visits manufacturing locations on a regular basis to assess programs and provide training and education on FMPC programs, including assisting with special events/investigations.
  • Leads monthly FMPC best practices sharing call, including maintaining agenda, schedule and assigning speakers and topics

Scope:
  • This position has research as well as plant support responsibilities to support the compliance of Lamb Weston products globally with relevant foreign material regulations pertinent to food safety.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications: (Required & Preferred)
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in food science, food processing, manufacturing, project management, engineering, chemistry, or another associated discipline.

Skills and Experience:
  • A minimum of five years of experience supporting food production and food safety.
  • Preferred experience in foreign material management in food production.
  • Experience in project management, RCA's and CA's and critical thinking.
  • HACCP and/or PCQI trained or willing to become trained.
  • The candidate should have a strong interest in problem-solving and scientific research in an industry-setting, with a high-level of integrity and desire to mentor others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

Physical Environment/Demands:
  • Some travel may be required with overnight travel (10-20% of time)
  • Work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment, and also in a factory environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
  • Position will require periodic lifting of 50lbs.

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate's work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $98,770.00 - $148,160.00
