SPHHS is an accredited school of public health and the only school of public health amongst public institutions in the New England area.

This position will be primarily based at the UMass Amherst campus, with the expectation of teaching at least four courses per academic year, online and in-person on campus and mostly at the graduate level. Additionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide strategic, fiscal, operational, and quality management of the MHA online program.
  • Oversee processes required to achieve and maintain compliance with standards of both the University and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, state, and national health care institutions to facilitate recruitment, to support field-based practicums and to build pathways to employment for graduates.
  • Develop and implement innovative and effective pedagogical and programmatic initiatives on-line and in-person.
  • Raise the visibility of the program by establishing a network of strong partnerships and attending relevant conferences at the local, state, and national level.
  • Lead processes of curricular review and development that ensure that MHA graduates receive a world-class training that positions them to emerge as healthcare leaders.
  • Oversee and support the teaching and mentorship of students in the MHA program.
  • Support the appropriate offices in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences and UMass Graduate School to facilitate marketing, recruitment, admission processes, and retention of students.
  • Conduct scholarship relevant to healthcare administration.
  • Coordinate MHA program activities with Department and School leadership.
  • Requirements

    • Terminal degree, including but not limited to PhD, EdD, MD, MBA, or JD.
    • Two (2) or more years of experience in healthcare administration, strategic planning and marketing, organizational behavior, management, systems science, healthcare information systems and technology, and/or financing and reimbursement.
    • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in program management, teaching, and mentorship.
    • Experience in the conduct of scholarship relevant to healthcare administration.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Five (5) or more years of experience in healthcare administration, strategic planning and marketing, organizational behavior, management, systems science, healthcare information systems and technology, and/or financing and reimbursement.
    • An accompanying Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) Degree or other related graduate degree in addition to the required terminal degree.

    Work Schedule

    • Variable schedule, online and in-person on campus

    Salary and Benefits

This is a 12-month, fully benefited position that is in the MSP/MTA bargaining unit (see https://www.umass.edu/hr). Application Instructions

Along with the application, please submit a resume, cover letter, and contact information for three (3) professional references. References will not be contacted unless you are selected as one of the final candidates.
