Job purpose

The mechanical designer will design both standard and custom equipment to order specifications. They will utilize Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault to design mechanical components and complete equipment assemblies meeting both EnSight's and the customer's equipment standards. They will interface with multiple teams throughout a project to provide detailed information about equipment designs, components, and fabrication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilizing Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk vault daily. Needs a strong working knowledge of this system.
• Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), customer drawings, manufacturing drawings, and other related engineering documents.
• Understand and follow all company procedures for safety.
• Evaluate and troubleshoot equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable, and cost efficient.
• Perform calculations required for equipment verification and component / system sizing
• Support Manufacturing and Quality based resources in their work to fabricate, assemble and qualify Engineering / Design deliverables in support of customer driven requirements.
• Work collaboratively within project teams consisting of clients, electrical engineers, design engineers, control system programmers, and information system programmers to deliver solutions.
• May be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education

• Associates degree in Drafting and Design strongly preferred; may consider equivalent combination of education and practical experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

• Mechanical Design capability and strong working knowledge in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault.
• Familiarity with design for sheet metal fabrication and machining.
• Ability to check and verify accuracy of self-generated drawings as well as drawings generated by peers.
• Designing for food processing industry is a plus.
