The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 50% (20 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II) to work at our UICC 1st Ave Fam Med Clinic. This position will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.
For nearly 50 years, the health and wellness of our patients has been our primary focus. We see patients for pregnancy care, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute care visits, annual physicals, regular check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services and more. Our team develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient. When anyone in the family needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects you with the UI Health Care specialist you need. That specialist will consult the same medical record your family medicine provider has been keeping for you, so your specialty care is streamlined.

Summary:
Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.
Duties to include:
- Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
- Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
- Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
- Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 50
% (20 hours per week) Schedule: Variable hours, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Standard clinic hours are 8 AM - 5:00 PM. No on call time, weekends, or holidays required. Hours likely to be completed in 4-5 hours shift or 5-4 hour shifts. Tuesday afternoon availability is required.

Salary: $40,264.16 - $59,798.88 (at 100% time)/ Hourly: $19.21 - $28.53
(based on years of experience)Minimum Eligibility Requirements - Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
Special Qualification/License: - Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Highly Desired Requirements - Previous EPIC experience
- Previous phlebotomy experience
- Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience
Desirable Qualifications - Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role
- Previous phlebotomy experience
- Previous immunization experience
Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position
