Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)

Department/Organization: 208411 - UMC Business Office

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evening/weekend hours as needed.

Job Summary: The Medical Billing Compliance Analyst performs systematic departmental audits by reviewing medical record documentation against billing to assess compliance with all federal and state regulations and insurance policies.

Additional Department Summary: Reviews data to identify areas of audit focus for risk and revenue opportunities. Monitors for updates on coding changes. Provides feedback to directors, clinicians, and department heads regarding audit findings. Maintains database of audit results and provides coding education to physicians, nurses, and other health system staff. Assists with training on billing processes/procedures for residents. Identifies charge errors, procedural weaknesses, system weaknesses, and coding appropriateness. Develops guides and resources for clinical staff and providers.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of medical bill coding experience; OR associate's degree or medical coding certificate and four (4) years of medical bill coding experience; OR high school diploma or GED and six (6) years of medical bill coding experience. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by American Association of Professional coders (AAPC). Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and skill in working with MS Office software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Excellent organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology to understand diagnoses and physician's remarks on medical reports. Detailed oriented. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to work independently and problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications: ICD-10 training/experience.
