University of Miami Miller School of Medicine
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and innovative anatomy faculty member to join our Department of Medical Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in anatomy for medical and health professions students. This role involves developing and enhancing anatomy curricula and actively engaging in student teaching and assessment across our three-phase NextGenMD curriculum.
Teaching:
- Deliver lectures, laboratory instruction, and small-group sessions on human anatomy, including gross anatomy, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy.
- Utilize traditional and modern teaching methods, such as donor-based instruction, digital tools, and 3D models.
- Recruit and train other faculty and residents to support anatomy lab sessions.
- Serve as course director for Phase 3 required and elective anatomy courses.
- Teach in the Masters of Biomedical Sciences program
Curriculum Development:
- Design, implement, and evaluate anatomy curricula aligned with the latest educational standards and learning objectives, ensuring an integrated approach across various health disciplines.
- Assist with mapping anatomy objectives to our curriculum map.
Student Assessment:
- Develop and administer assessments, including practical exams, written tests, and quizzes, to evaluate student learning and mastery of anatomical concepts.
- Finalize course grades within our learning management system.
Interprofessional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with faculty and Phase Directors across our curriculum to provide a cohesive, longitudinal anatomy curriculum.
- Attend Executive Curriculum Committee and sub-committee meetings
- Manage the South Florida Body Donor Program for the State of Florida Anatomical Board

Continuous Quality Improvement: •Provide feedback to students and respond to student feedback as appropriate.
•Participate in faculty development and training for continuous quality improvement.
Research:- Engage in scholarly work, particularly medical education research and ethics of human tissue use
QualificationsEducational Background: Ph.D., MD, or equivalent degree in Anatomy, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field is required.
Experience: Proven experience in teaching anatomy at the undergraduate or graduate level. Previous experience with donor dissection and lab instruction is highly desirable.
Expertise: Strong foundation in human anatomy, with additional knowledge in histology, neuroanatomy, or embryology preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex anatomical concepts clearly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with modern teaching technologies, including digital dissection tools, virtual reality, and 3D modeling.
Evidence of involvement in curriculum development or interprofessional education initiatives.
