Position Summary
The Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This multi-discipline position requires installing, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links, including on-prem and cloud-based systems, with a multi-vendor environment. The position will administer on-prem and cloud networking infrastructure by participating in designing and developing scalable, highly available network systems that meet the business objectives and SLAs of a multi-state and multi-time zone architecture.
Specific Responsibilities
Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances to ensure smooth, reliable operation to fulfill business objectives and processes.
Design, deploy and maintain the various Network Solutions, SD-WAN, Firewall, Wi-Fi, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware.
Monitor network performance and isolate, coordinate, and resolve performance problems utilizing various advanced hardware and software diagnostic/testing tools and techniques.
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades and backups.
Build custom security policies and application signatures for Firewalls and Network Routing Devices.
Create and maintain network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records documentation.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
Research network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Participate in managing all network security solutions.
Create, monitor, maintain, support, and optimize cloud networking infrastructure including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Private Links, Route53, Direct Connect, and Load Balancers.
Effectively troubleshoot on prem to AWS connectivity and inter VPC traffic difficulties.
Maintain/Upgrade network appliance OS versions to vendor suggestion
Mitigate vulnerabilities and address CVEs at Cyber and Vendor direction
Participate in physical security efforts by facilitating network access for Cameras/NVRs. Assign and provision smart access keys and badges for site and building access.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Minimum: A solid understanding of switches, routers, access points, and wireless controllers. A solid knowledge of standard networking protocols used in multi-vendor networks.
Preferred:
IP Routing: TCP/IP, RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP.
LAN Switching: Ethernet802.3, 802.1q VLAN, 802.1x, ARP, STP 802.1d, RSTP 802.1w, MST 802.1s, 802.3ad LACP, VRRP, BFD, DHCP.
WAN Protocols: PPP, MLPPP, HDLC, Frame Relay, DS1/DS3/E1/E3 interfaces
Forwarding: QOS, queuing, policing, shaping, marking, ACL.
Hardware: Cisco Catalyst 6500/4500/3750, Cisco ISR 1900/2900/3900, Juniper EX, QFX, SRX, Aruba/Sliver Peak SD-WAN, Aruba 7200 WLAN Controller, Meru WLAN Controller, Avaya ERS switches, HPE/Aruba Procurve switches, Brocade ICX switches, Mikrotik switches, Lenel S2.
Software: IOS, JUNOS, AOS, MS Office Suite, MS Windows 7/8/10, RADIUS, RouterOS
Network Tools: Wireshark, Ekahau Site Survey, Spectrum Analyzer, Nectar (SNMP)
Multicast Protocols: PIM-SM/DM, IGMP.
Cloud Technologies: Amazon Web Services
Required Education and Experience
Minimum:
Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field.
Five years of general system, infrastructure, or network administration/engineering experience and four years of dedicated data center, network, infrastructure, or enterprise experience.
Preferred:
8+ Years of Network Management and Configuration experience.
Juniper (JNCIA-Junos) (JNCDA) certification, Aruba Network Certified (ACMP) ((ACDX), or CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, AWS Certified Security - Specialty
Other Requirements
On-call availability
Sitting for extended periods
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard and mouse and handle other computer components.
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals up to forty-five pounds
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings
