Job Info

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology is searching for a full-time neuro-oncologist faculty member for the role of Medical Director of Neuro-Oncology. As Medical Director, the appointee will oversee growth in the neuro-oncology program, participate in strategic planning with the neuroscience service line leaders, and collaborate with leaders in Neurosurgery, Radiation Oncology, and Hematology/Oncology. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The faculty member will join the NCI-designated Cancer Center at UChicago Medicine, an expanding neurosciences service line, which includes the opportunity to bring neuro-oncology care to locations throughout the Chicagoland region both in and outside of our main campus in Hyde Park. It is anticipated that this position can spend time both in Hyde Park, which will be home to a new free-standing Cancer Hospital, and at other ambulatory care sites, including Northwest Indiana, south suburbs of Chicago, and downtown Chicago. Maintaining and overseeing an active outpatient clinic as well as teaching and supervision of medical students, residents and fellows is also expected.

In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the appointee will draw on the environment and demographics of the south side of Chicago and the mission of the Cancer Center to develop a broad research program for the surrounding community and beyond. The University is home to the NCI-funded Cancer Center, the Ludwig Center for Metastasis Research, and the Neurosciences Institute and the Grossman Center for Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) have completed an ACGME accredited residency in neurology, 4) be board certified or board eligible in neurology, and 5) have completed a neuro-oncology fellowship and be UCNS neuro-oncology certified or eligible.

We especially welcome candidates with an interest and background in neuro-oncology research to spearhead clinical and translational neuro-oncology studies, including a track record in conducting clinical trials.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/132597.

Applicants must upload a CV and a cover letter. Review of applications ends when the position is filled.
