DUTIES:
Provide information to staff and inmates on postage rates and general information.
Open, and inspect for contraband, incoming and outgoing inmate mail, to include letters, packages, magazines, and newspapers.
Drive to US Postal Service Office to pick up mail.
Sort inmate mail by living locations, weighs mail and affixes postage utilizing a postage meter. Process incoming checks and money orders.
Scan and electronically file documents; order and distribute supplies, equipment, or publications to maintain office inventory.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in mail processing practices and procedures. Experience in Microsoft Office, database systems, and operations of basic office equipment.
Other: Must have valid driver's license. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
