Join our Non Profit Client located near the San Antonio Airport for this temp to hire opportunity. $19 to $23 hourly depending on experience.

Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage payroll processing for a workforce of at least 300 employees. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of payroll experience, a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and excellent attention to detail. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for a minimum of 300 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and validate timekeeping records, deductions, and payroll changes, such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits enrollment.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll information in the payroll system.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including proper calculation of withholdings, deductions, and tax filings.
  • Prepare and distribute pay statements, direct deposit setups, and other payroll-related documents.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure alignment on employee compensation and financial reporting.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
  • Stay current with changes in payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Proven experience managing payroll for a minimum of 300 employees.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar software).
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based with occasional opportunities for remote work, depending on company policies. The role requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
