Under the general supervision of the Director of Pediatric Echocardiology, the incumbent will be responsible for performing complete and comprehensive pediatric echocardiographic exams independently in an ambulatory care setting in various offices in Boston, Worcester, Danvers, Braintree, Foxboro, Cape Cod, Holyoke and other satellites. Sonographer will understand the reasons for the patient's exam and prepare preliminary reports with accurate measures and appropriate statements. Incumbent will comply with patient privacy and safety guidelines and adheres to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Relevant activities include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform complete echocardiographic examination independently Perform complete fetal echocardiograms independentlyAcquire echocardiographic examination in digital formatUnderstand reasons for individual patient exams, review patient history and review prior report/imagesPerform expected volume of studies on a consistent basisPerform echocardiograms in all settings: inpatient, outpatient and other portable sitesParticipate in QI initiatives and in measures to support laboratory accreditation Perform saline bubble studiesDevelop proficiency in 3D imaging and other imaging techniques as they become available in the laboratoryAssist with training junior personnelParticipate in research protocols as neededProvide resource coverage in inpatient or outpatient settingTrain junior personnel and provide back-up support to all personnelBe receptive to queries from administrative support staff for optimal running of Clinic and LabHelp guide administrative support staff when technical/scheduling questions ariseSet example for junior personnel regarding work ethic, workflow, technical expertiseSKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Comply with patient privacy and safety guidelines (e.g. 2 patient identifiers)Practice Infection Control standardsLearn to use a variety of ultrasound equipment - GE, Philips, etcPrepare a preliminary report with accurate measurements and appropriate statementsPerform expected volume of studies by end of first yearUnderstand overall functioning of the laboratoryDevelop good time management and organizational skillsAsk questions as necessary regarding protocols, diagnoses, image optimization and other areasQualifications EXPERIENCE At least 5 years experience in pediatric echocardiography
Required:Certificate : Current RDCS or RCS required
Associate's Degree
Certifications: Required: CPR
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
Working Conditions: Ambulatory clinic and in-patient setting
Able to push 350lb ultrasound machine
