The PLC Technician position pays $31.56 per hour
Scheduled Shifts:
6:00AM TO 6:00PM - 4 days on/4 days off CONTINUOUS SHIFT
6:00PM to 6:00AM, 4 days on/4 days off CONTINUOUS SHIFT
Position Summary:
The PLC Technician is responsible for the efficiency and safety of all plant electrical circuits and equipment related to heat, light, and power. This position is accountable for the troubleshooting, repairing, constructing, installing, adjusting, and overhaul for all types of electrical and electronic equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Troubleshoot electrical problems on all the equipment
- Maintain and update electrical prints, programs, and files
- Program TI and Allen Bradley controllers
- Perform preventative maintenance assignments
- Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, PLC programs, and electrical components
- Maintain electrical spare part inventory under the direction of management
- Fabricate parts and assemblies as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade
- Maintain safe work environment in accordance with established JSA
- Make up material and parts lists and order some as required
- Do or direct all maintenance, wiring and installation of motors, switches, switch panels, fuse boxes, lighting testing and power circuits
- Determine proper size and specifications of wire, conduit, switches, panels, fuses, etc
- Fabricate and install mounting fixtures and brackets on electrical and plumbing work as assigned
- Inspect and maintain gas mixers and auxiliary equipment as required
- Troubleshoot PLC's equipment, DEC drives and AC drives using laptop computers
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of state and local electrical codes
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical blueprints and schematic drawings
- Have thorough knowledge of industrial wiring, motors, switches, switch panels, fuse boxes, lighting, testing and power circuits
- Deep understanding of electrical gauges, recording instruments, electronic sensing units and other related equipment
- Familiarity with Allen Bradely systems, VFD's, PLC's hardware & software, AC/DC circuits, 4-20mA circuits & 440 MCC's
- Understanding of Electrical Theory and Principles, wiring specifications, codes, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment
Experience/Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent with a trade school certification
- 3+ years experience as an electrician in a manufacturing environment
- Confined space trained and qualified
Preferred requirements:
- Ability to write code and demonstrate a working knowledge of RS logic
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to be exposed to a loud environment, moving mechanical parts/machinery and chemicals
- Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally 75 lbs
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand, reach, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and a variety of other physical functions on a frequent basis
- Must be able to follow safety procedures
- Must be able to work at a consistently fast pace
