Position Summary:

The Phanstiel lab at UNC (http://phanstiel-lab.med.unc.edu/) has an open position for a computational postdoc to study the genetics of human disease. The successful candidate will analyze response QTLs (expression QTLs, splicing QTLs, chromatin accessibility QTLs, etc) as well as corresponding genomic data (Hi-C, CUT&RUN, phosphoproteomics, etc) in primary human cells to identify novel human disease risk variants and genes. They will also co-lead projects using massively parallel reporter assays (MPRA) to quantify the impacts of disease-related genetic variants. Finally, they will interact with nearby collaborators to plan and analyze functional follow-up experiments using CRISPR-based techniques applied to primary human cells grown in an ex vivo system. Hundreds of data sets have already been collected and are ready to be analyzed. Prior experience with some human genetic/genomic data sets (e.g. GWAS, QTL, Hi-C, ATAC, RNA-seq, etc) is preferred but not required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Ph.D

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

PhD in Genetics, Biology, Computational Biology, or related field. Experience with computational analysis of genomic data.

Prior experience with some human genetic/genomic data sets (e.g. GWAS, QTL, Hi-C, ATAC, RNA-seq, etc).
