In order to ensure your application is complete, you must complete the following:The incumbent will work with Dr. Jiyoung Lee (http://cph.osu.edu/people/jlee) at her Environmental Microbiology & One Health Lab within The Ohio State University's College of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health Sciences.The primary responsibilities of the postdoctoral researcher will include: 1) developing sustainable methods for reducing harmful algal blooms and toxins; 2) investigating pathogens, ARGs, and microbial communities using targeted molecular methods or next-generation sequencing; and 3) analyzing human health data and other big data. The postdoctoral researcher will work closely with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of OSU faculty, researchers, and students. The postdoctoral researcher also is expected to help in the laboratory, write manuscripts, present scientific papers, and help supervise students who are conducting field-, laboratory-, and modeling-related research.
Additional Information:Required Experience: A successful applicant will be creative, motivated, and capable of working both independently and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary group; a PhD degree with environmental microbiology with experience in molecular methods, next generation sequencing, bioinformatics, statistical analyses and processing environmental samples; highly motivated individuals who enjoy working in a productive, interdisciplinary collaborative group and fast-paced environment will be preferred. Strong quantitative, organizational and writing skills are required. An inclusive mindset and strong work ethic are also required.
Desired Experience: Advanced degree in environmental science or a related field with a strong background in machine learning data analysis, general knowledge about harmful algal blooms and enteric diseases, and experience with processing big data set and handling microbial culture and cyanotoxins.
